8-year-old rugby player wins Man of Steel Award
A young rugby player beat 200 competitors to be presented with the Rhinos Challenge Man of Steel award.
Grace Anderson headed to Skegness for the tournament with the Under 8 and Under 7 Hindpool Tigers ARLFC teams.
The eight-year-old was the only female rugby player at the tournament as she is also for the Tigers.
The Under 7's team also scooped the Fair Play award.
Club coach Graham Shaw said he was so proud of the players in what was a much harder tournament than last year.
He added: “We fundraised for the last year to go to the event again and with help from parents and local business such as Claire Milby at Travel the Globe, Reays coaches, Cumbria Roofing, Furness Building Society, Kat Osborne of Fabu-lash At Zest and Hughes Brothers, that was possible and we got them a special kit just for the weekend.
“Myself and our other coach are very proud of the teams. They had to take time off school to travel down and they were so far away from home and aged 7 and 8 they held up well all weekend. They are a credit to their families and the club."
“They were described as one of the toughest teams in the tournament and to come away with two trophies was amazing.”
