BAE provide takeaway lunches for teachers in Furness

BAE Systems Submarines has been providing takeaway lunches for teachers in Furness.

The company wanted to thank those teachers who have been educating the children of key workers during the coronavirus crisis.

Meals were ordered from suppliers like Kapadokya, Wrapport, Olympic Fish and Chips, Grilla Cheese, Barrow Eats and Bakehouse Born and Bread in Greenodd. Schools on the list included Vickerstown Primary School, St.Pius X Catholic Primary School, Chetwynde School, Dalton St. Marys CofE Primary School and Penny Bridge CofE Academy.

Organiser Amy Lamph, whose usual role would involve liaising with schools on things like STEM Roadshows, encouraging science education, said: "During Covid-19 we have needed to adapt our working practices, offering online resources and videos to help children to access our projects at home.

"We have also been offering teachers lunches as a small thank you to teaching staff for their support throughout the year but especially at this time when the hub schools are staying open to support the children of key workers including our own employees."
