BAE Systems to test Public Nuclear Alert Siren on Fri 20th Sept
BAE Systems will test its Public Nuclear Alert Siren on Friday, 20 September.
The alarm will be heard throughout the Barrow area at 2pm for approximately 5 minutes.
BAE Systems is required by the nuclear regulator, the Office for Nuclear Regulation, to periodically test its nuclear siren.
The alarm is played from loudspeakers positioned around the Devonshire Dock Hall, the main facility where submarines are constructed.
The test is to ensure the audibility of the siren across the site.
