Devro's Barbers set to style hair for free in return for donations for Mind in Furness
A skilled team of barbers are going to raise money for a local mental health charity by offering free hair cuts in return for donations.
Paul Devlin, owner of Devro's, has lived in Barrow for over thirteen years and started cutting hair from his Mum’s kitchen in Preston when he was only fourteen years old.
Paul told HuddleHub: “I was responsible for shaving my brothers and cousins hair but became bored with normal cuts and started experimenting with different patterns and designs. Over the years this became my passion and after training at Preston College I moved to Barrow and started working in one of the town centre Barbershops. After two years working there the opportunity arose for me to open up my own shop which had always been my intention from the day I enrolled on the Barbering course.
“Before I became a Barber I had done many jobs such as roofing, cable installation and window cleaning but barbering was always my passion. I loved the creative side of hair cutting and designing bespoke styles for clients.
“Devro’s Barbers is based on Cavendish Street in Barrow, and is an award winning Barbershop with award winning staff who regularly compete in industry competitions. We offer an extensive catalogue of modern and traditional styles and services such as cut throat shaves and beard maintenance which keeps us up to the minute with the latest trends.
We specialise in afro haircuts and have created some amazing award winning patterns and hair designs, we can also offer Scalp Micro Pigmentation.
“The last ten years have been amazing. we've made so many friends and also lost a few. There have been a few staff that have come and gone but I will always be grateful to the people that have helped make Devros what it is today. I feel blessed. My staff are an amazing group of people who are all of the same mind set, which is to become the best they can be. It’s so refreshing to be around people like that, and this for me is the foundation of our success over the last ten years and hopefully the building blocks for us to become bigger and better in the future.
"As a way to say a massive thank you to all our customers both past and present, we are doing a fundraiser for local mental health charity Mind in Furness, on Friday the 2nd of August, and all our hair services will be free.
"The shop will be open from 9am till 7pm for walk ins only, and each person will be entered into a free prize draw.
"Donation buckets will be in the shop for the charity as we want to raise as much money as possible. All we ask is that each customer makes a donation, as much or as little as they want.
"Usual bookings can be made online through the booking app Booksy, which makes us more accessible to our clients, and easier to book appointments."
