Emergency crews called to sinking vehicle in Cavendish Dock with person trapped inside

Furness Coastguard were paged this morning at 09:13 to reports of a vehicle which was sinking in Cavendish Dock with a person trapped inside.

The team arrived on scene with a water rescue technician ready to enter the water to rescue the person.

Thankfully Cumbria Police and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service were already on scene and the person had managed to get out of the vehicle. It was confirmed that they were alone and they were in the care of North West Ambulance Service.

This was the team’s 5th emergency call out in 5 consecutive days.

With the weather set to be hot for the rest of the week, we are expecting our beaches to be busy. Please take care, and if you are in danger, or you think someone else is do not hesitate and dial #999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Well done to everyone involved!
