Furness Coastguard welcome Pennington Guides for tour of Barrow station and safety talk
Volunteers from Furness Coastguard welcomed Pennington Guides and leaders to their station yesterday evening.
The team discussed responsibilities of the Coastguard, giving them safety advice on spending time at our wonderful beaches and lakes, the dangers of water and quicksand and cliffs and what to do if they find themselves or others is danger.
The girls had an opportunity to have a look at some of the kit the team use and chat about some of the other roles the Coastguard undertake including ordinance on the beach, flares, pollution and missing persons.
If in danger around the coast, dial #999 and ask for the Coastguard.
