Groundworks jobs up for grabs, as local company celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
HBP Ltd are continuing to grow their successful business and are looking to recruit more apprentices to learn the ropes from scratch and develop their skill set along the way.
With National Apprenticeship Week being last week, the busy company have decided now is the right time to take on another Apprentice.
Apprenticeships are the ideal way to learn all about a job role whilst gaining hands on experience and qualifications, and this is a great opportunity to climb on board with a local company that are going from strength to strength. The Duke Street based Holiday Inn and Alfred Barrow Medical Centre in Barrow are just two of the huge projects HBP have worked on, as well as having a couple of housing developments under their belts.
Lucy Barker, Transport Manager of HBP Ltd told us: “Our current Apprentices have been with us for eighteen months now, and are all on track to completing and successfully passing their apprenticeships in the next coming months.
"Our Project Manager Tom Butler took the time to catch up with them and present them all with a thank you gift from HBP for all their hard work and dedication in what has been a really challenging year.
“Peter is completing an apprenticeship in Vehicle Mechanics. He is based at our workshop in Askam-in-Furness and works alongside our Garage Manager and his team of experienced mechanics with daily maintenance and repairing our fleet of HGV’s, plant and vans.
Peter’s knowledge of the job and skills required to undertake this role have grown from strength to strength, and we are very proud of his development throughout his apprenticeship.
“Jakub is completing a Highway Maintenance Apprenticeship where he has learnt drainage and modular reinstatement at college and put this into practice and developed these skills on our sites. Jakub completed his NPORS dumper ticket in November last year and his attendance and commitment to the role is impeccable and we are proud to say he is now a key player within our groundworks team.
“Chloe is completing an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration. She has made a great impression with our office team and over the recent months she has taken a very active role within our transport department, dealing competently with the day-to-day challenges that come with this very demanding role.
“The progress and success of our current apprentices has inspired us, and now HBP are actively seeking apprentice groundworkers between the age of 16 – 24 to join our expanding team specifically in our ground works division. Successful candidates will be based on our sites across Cumbria, mainly in Barrow in Furness and surrounding areas and will be learning a variety of skills such as kerbing and Flagging, pouring foundations, drainage, carriageway and footway construction. They will be accompanied and mentored by our experienced team throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
“We are willing to put the right candidates through CSCS Cards, First Aid Training, plant tickets and various other qualifications to help equip our apprentices for the role ahead. This is a great opportunity to work for an expanding local company and to start a career in a construction”
