Local band return to the live circuit after 33 years
THE ACTIVE were an alternative / power-pop / new wave-inspired band based in Barrow, between 1984 and 1986, they recorded 2 demo tapes of original material and played scores of local gigs to much acclaim.
Having last played in July 1986, they have now reformed, and are set to play their first live gig over the festive period, at the Newton Arms in Dalton-in-Furness on Friday 27th December 2019.
Original band members Andy Smith (lead vocals / acoustic guitar) and David Duffin (drums / backing vocals) are now joined by new recruits Tony Kavanagh (electric guitars) and Mark Fisher (bass) to complete the classic 4-piece line-up.
The Newton gig will also feature a set from special guest Stanzz, with a fresh and inspiring take on vocal rap and rock combined.
The Re: Active Mix-Tape playlist will also be in operation all evening, featuring alternative classics and curios personally chosen by the band themselves.
There will also be a raffle, with amazing prizes on offer, and all proceeds going to the Furness Branch of the MS Society.
Tickets for the gig are £3 each, and are available to buy now from the Newton pub, band members or The Active Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dreamsagainst/
