New Walney hub set to host world's largest coffee morning event on Fri 27th Sept
The Round House Hub & Cafe has been undergoing a transformation over the past month.
From top to bottom, volunteers have been on a mission to give the former Chinese restaurant a new lease of life and now a date has been set for the doors opening for the first time.
On Friday 27th September the new hub will host a Macmillan Coffee Morning with amazing views, tasty coffee and delicious cakes, starting at 10am.
Matt Blackburn, Operations Manager of ZEST Said: "Although the whole building will not be ready to open, we are very excited to be holding this event. We had to start somewhere and this seems like the perfect day.
"Myself and other dedicated volunteers will be working hard over the next 3 weeks to get the cafe area and kitchen area finished.
"I would like to invite everyone to attend on the 27th and we welcome donations of cakes.
"I would also like to ask the public to support this transformation into a new community facility by donation to our gofundme page, there is lots of things we need to get the hub fully up and running and we really need your support. So far we have raised £1,310 of our £5,000 target. This money will be used to purchase a disabled toilet alarm, a baby changing unit, a new front door so the building is more accessible to everyone. The list really does go on and on and we really do appreciate the kind donations people have made so far."
The new hub is a community asset development project managed by ZEST Community Action Group.
