Police issue witness appeal following sexual assault in Barrow Park

Police are appealing for witnesses as part of an investigation into a reported sexual assault that occurred in Barrow.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 19th May) in Barrow Park.

A cordon is in place at Barrow Park whilst investigations are conducted.

The victim, a woman in her 20s from the local area, is being supported by officers.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses who have been in the area in the early hours of this morning to come forward.

A police spokesperson said:

“I would like to thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward. We have specialist officers and detectives investigating this incident and they are actively following multiple lines of enquiry.

“There will be an increased patrol in the area for the foreseeable future whilst investigations are carried out.”
