Schools urged to 'go yellow' for World Mental Health Day
Local health campaigners are urging schools to 'go yellow' for World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10th October 2019.
The initiative has already gathered great interest online with many schools in the area already pledging to take part.
Dan Webber, Kick Off 4 Mental Health campaigner: "We need to let our young people know it's ok to have mental health challenges but it's how you deal with it that matters and the services that are out there"
"It's crucial to tackle our community's high adult mental health statistics by working on coping strategies with our young people".
Councillor Iain Mooney, Health and Well-being Spokesperson for Barrow Borough Council:
"I've contacted every school in the borough, encouraging them to take part and help us raise awareness for World Mental Health Day"
"Teaching children from a young age to understand mental health is vital in creating a future free from stigma and promoting a positive attitude towards mental health. I urge everyone to wear yellow and spread awareness".
