Women in Policing Conference Raises Over £4,000 for Women’s Aid
Chief Constable Michelle Skeer was yesterday (October 7) presented with a certificate from Women’s Aid following money raised at the Women in Policing conference hosted by Cumbria Police.
The conference was a non-profit event and all donations and money raised from a raffle were donated to the charity. The final amount raised was £4,010.18.
The conference was held on the 22nd November 2018 to mark how far women have come in the 100 years since the Suffragette’s protesting enabled women to vote. The day celebrated the achievements and success of women in policing and other public services, to support, motivate, develop and inspire present and future leaders within the North of England.
The conference was well attended by nearly 200 officer and staff.
Chief Constable Michelle Skeer Said:
“The conference was a great success and it was an honour for the Constabulary to host the event.
“It was an amazing day to celebrate women’s achievements and successes and even better that we have been able to raise money for a great cause.”
Jo Costello, Women's Aid Quality and Sustainability manager said:
"We are delighted by the donation of over £4000 from Cumbria Police and the Northern Forces. Donations such as these help us to provide the best support for our national network of member services and to continue our life-saving work with survivors of domestic abuse."
